WCESB had on 2 January 2013 signed a concession agreement with the Government of Malaysia on the privatisation of the West Coast Expressway (“WCE”) under a build-operate-transfer (BOT) model with a concession period of 50 years. The project involves the development of a 233KM tolled highway from Banting in Selangor to Taiping in Perak. The WCE Project is expected to provide an alternative route to ease the congestion on the North South Expressway, especially during peak seasons. The construction of the Project has commenced in 2014 and is expected to complete in five (5) years.The West Coast Expressway (E32) commences at a junction with Selangor State Road B18 which runs from Banting, Selangor and ends at the ramp of Changkat Jering toll plaza of the North-South Expressway at Taiping, Perak. It is planned and designed in such a way so that it is well-connected to the existing highways (such as PLUS, SKVE, NKVE, NNKSB, LATAR, KESAS, etc.), in order to maximize its coverage and gives the road users more options while travelling.
