An Assistant General Manager supports the General Manager in business operations. They often assist in managing the financial aspects, such as payroll or budgeting, and they may also help with human resources tasks, including hiring, training and rostering employees. Assistant General Managers commonly step in for a General Manager in their absence. They work across many sectors including hospitality, retail and finance industries.

- Assisting in setting goals and standards for a company's performance and growth.
- Delegating responsibilities and supervising business operations.
- Supervising employees and providing feedback to improve efficiency.
- Collaborating with the General Manager in decision-making processes.
- Assisting with the development of operational policies and strategic plans.
- Reporting on operational performance.
- Building relationships with key stakeholders and clients.
How to become an Assistant General Manager
Experience in supervisory roles and industry knowledge relevant to the department are required for this role. A bachelor degree or MBA is an advantage though not required.
- Complete a diploma or bachelor degree in business administration, management, human resources or another related field.
- Get an entry-level job in your industry of choice.
- Demonstrate leadership skills spearheading projects, getting promotions and building a strong business network.
