What's it like to be a Project Manager?
Project Managers are responsible for leading an entire project through initiation, planning, execution, control and completion. They always work in a team. Most of the time, Project Managers are team leader, co-worker and supervisor rolled into one. They often exhibit their project management skills to solve every problem. They are always expected to hold the answers to any inquiry.Tasks and duties
- Planning and developing the project idea.
- Understanding business cases and risk management processes.
- Exhibiting expertise to meet specific circumstances.
- Keeping an eye on the project progress and setting deadlines.
- Monitoring and controlling budgets.
- Interpreting instructions correctly regardless of their form.
- Ensuring stakeholder satisfaction.
- Evaluating project performance.
How to become a Project Manager
Project Managers do not belong to only one industry, so completing a degree to start your project management career is a good start.
- 1.Complete a bachelor degree in project management or business administration. Usually, projects will belong to a line of business such as software, art, logistics, economics, or linguistics. Therefore, a degree in arts or design may be beneficial for a better understanding of the field. Not having a diploma in project management is not always a disadvantage.
- 2.Although not necessary, you are advised to take a master degree, preferably Master of Business Administration in Project Management. This usually takes two years to complete.
- 3.Gain extensive work experience related to project management. Project Managers need many years of experience as a project coordinator, an operations coordinator, an associate project manager, or a junior project manager.
- 4.Take a professional certification such as Certified Associate in Project Management or Project Management Professional certification. These certifications can better your chances for career opportunities and growth.
