What's it like to be a Security Guard?
A Security Guard is responsible for screening the ingress and egress of people into a building or property. They discern which visitors are valid for entry and file reports of the traffic inside the building or property.Tasks and duties
- Creating reports of ingress and egress, as well as policy violations.
- Conducting surveillance by patrolling the premises.
- Monitoring CCTV cameras and other surveillance equipment.
- Coordinating with other assigned security guards and administration through radio.
- Policing violations.
- Detaining persons and recording evidence as necessary.
How to become a Security Guard
Although formal education is not required for the position, getting a certificate in security will be highly advantageous. Security Guards have high observation skills, swift problem-solving, and the capability to stand for hours on the job.
- 1.Complete at least secondary education. Knowledge of basic computer and maths skills are essential.
- 2.Consider taking a training course in security management for better chances at getting a job.
- 3.Apply to a security guard agency where you will be given training and outsourced to companies, or apply on your own as a Security Guard in recognised companies.
