What's it like to be a Teaching Aide?
A Teacher’s Aide, also known as a Teaching Assistant, supports teachers in a classroom and helps students with their academic and social development. They supervise students and reinforce lessons by conducting individual and group tutoring sessions. They assist the head Teacher so they must have flexible teaching methods to accommodate the needs of the students.Tasks and duties
- Giving regular feedback regarding the progress of students to the head Teacher.
- Attending to the needs of the students, including social, physical hygiene, health, or minor first aid matters.
- Assisting the head Teacher with the lesson plan.
- Preparing all the materials and equipment needed for the lesson.
- Establishing a good rapport with students and presenting a positive personal image to promote healthy self-esteem.
- Encouraging students to be independent whenever appropriate.
- Ensuring the safety of students in the school campus and during field trips.
- Participating in training sessions, parent conferences, and faculty meetings.
How to become a Teaching Aide
Formal education is required to become a Teacher’s Aide. This career is often considered as the entry-level job to become a full time teacher.

Most schools require that you acquire your secondary school certificate. Complete your SKM Level 3.
- 2.Many employers tend to expect that you are working towards a bachelor degree in education. You can also consider taking early childhood education, special education, or another specialty programme.
- 3.Other career progression opportunities are available, such as a career in primary or secondary education or in special education.
