- Checking and organising stock as it is acquired.
- Handling inventory and ensuring the storage space is well-kept.
- Scanning codes on products to ensure accuracy and reporting to the manager for any discrepancies.
- Following quality standards and complying with safety procedures.
- Assuming other duties in the warehouse as required by the manager.
- Organising outbound shipments.
How to become a Warehouse Assistant
No formal qualifications are needed to become a Warehouse Assistant. Typically, you will receive on-the-job training. In this career, experience is very valuable since you might encounter procedures that utilise machinery.
- Complete your SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia). A basic understanding of mathematics is essential in handling the inventory.
- You can apply for an apprenticeship where you will receive formal training on the processes of a warehouse operator.
- Look for employment in your chosen field. You can apply for roles in manufacturing or retail businesses. You can also get a forklift licence to perform more advanced tasks.
