Supportive workplace with strong growth opportunities
The good thingsGreat exposure to different aspects of pharmacy operations and healthcare services. Supportive team culture with emphasis on collaboration and mentorship. Continuous improvement mindset – management encourages ideas, kaizen, and recognition through initiatives like Alproeans Award. Training programs help staff grow into leadership roles. Clear career pathway for those who are motivated to take on more responsibility.
The challengesFast-paced environment, may feel challenging for those who prefer a slower work style. Communication between HQ and outlets can sometimes be a hurdle, though improving. Work-life balance can be stretched during campaign or project periods.

    A fast-paced, purpose-driven experience
The good thingsA typical day at work is fast-paced and hands-on — most of what I’ve learned here comes from real-life experience rather than formal training. It’s a great platform to develop practical skills and grow professionally. The scale of the work also means we have the opportunity to create real impact in the community, which is truly meaningful. The workplace culture is friendly, and management is generally supportive and open to ideas. Being part of a team that wants to make a difference makes the work feel purposeful and fulfilling.
The challengesTo thrive here, you need a strong sense of purpose and a growth mindset — the learning curve can be steep, and things can get challenging quickly. High expectations combined with limited resources can make the work demanding. While the culture is supportive, staff welfare could be improved

A fast-paced, forward-thinking company that rewards initiative, empowers growth, and delivers real impact.
The good thingsAlpro Pharmacy fosters a high-performance culture with a strong focus on people development, innovation, and operational excellence. The company actively supports employee growth through structured frameworks like OKR, ATEM, and RTDP, encouraging clear goal alignment and ownership. Collaboration across departments is seamless, and leadership is approachable, forward-thinking, and genuinely committed to creating impact. The environment is dynamic and fast-paced, which provides opportunities to lead cross-functional projects and implement meaningful change.
The challengesThe pace can be intense, and expectations are high across all levels. Employees must be agile, adaptable, and able to handle multiple priorities concurrently. At times, alignment between departments may require additional effort due to the company’s rapid expansion and transformation initiatives.

20% reward and 80% punishment The working experience was good back then, we were given a lot opportunities to learn and apply our knowledge. However, things are different nowadays, the company is implementing penalty(usually monetarily) on almost every mistake you make, hence the learning through mistake model is no longer viable here.

Overwhelming Workload, Limited Support, and Stagnant Career Growth: A Challenging Environment for Outlet PharmacistsPros: -Exposure to diverse tasks, enhancing skill development. Cons: -High workload with overlapping responsibilities from various departments. -Unrealistic KPIs and sales targets. -Limited staff benefits, with partial medical claims and no dental, optical or other support. -Labour-intensive quarterly stock counts. -No performance bonuses or sales rewards, despite high expectations and targets. -Numerous ongoing projects and sales events, leading to increased pressure and workload. -Lack of career progression; despite undergoing extensive training and assessments over an extended period, promotion opportunities remain unfulfilled. Career advancement appears to be heavily dependent on outlet sales performance and location, with limited transparency in the promotion criteria. -Occasional misalignment between internal strategies and outlet-level performance metrics.

Truly challenging unless you have a strong and growth mindset in the company and really strive to perform here
The good thingsLearn new things-the system, distinct working culture, fast-paced environment with good colleague and boss
The challengesToo much promotions and events going on even every 2 months, blood tests and now vaccine recruitment, at first they will introduce the event with targets, after a while, they will force you to achieve the targets, too much micromanage causing burnout to PhIC and even staffs, now due to salary increment, company wants to reduce workforce without realising the huge workload upon existing staffs, has tons of incentives available yet lacking of staff benefits

    Decent yet challenging.
The good things1) Salary is significant here as it follows how you perform in your position. 2) Incentive quite good if you polish your skills in sales. 3) Training; a lot of modules you can learn which is you will gain a lot of knowledge. 4) Working environment (really depends on outlet you will go, it is very subjective) for me, I have good colleagues and PIC. 5) I can say they have good management.
The challenges1) Rest day is different for everyone, some people will get straight 2 days and some just got alternate day. (P/S: I don't have any problem with rest day,but some people want to rest on weekends right?but logically it is retail,we opened everyday) 2) You have to know about medicine, catch up faster, it is very difficult for none science background. (Tough for a few months only, after that you will be good if you are hardworking & willing to learn, Alpro will never leave u behind) 3) Stock day is very tiring. Sometimes you will fight with your colleagues due to stock arrangements. 4) Many events till you become lost what promotion is going on. Sometimes just too much sales and voucher need to catch up. 5) If you are interested in Nutritionist/Dietitian position you need to be prepared as it could be tougher for the first 2 years. (But,trust me it's all worth it!,) If you asked for staff benefits, not so many, just good incentive here, for medical not so many you can claim.

Good Company If You Have Strong Mindset & Strong Will, Not for The One Who Want Work Life Balance/Functional Family Life
The good thingsGood training especially on sales & product, make yourself outstanding if you are the one who are willingly step out from your comfort zone, can learn and posses different type of skills, good if you have good colleague, bad if have toxic environment
The challengesSales target revision every 6 month was unrealistic plus unrealistic KPI, very tiring & stressfull to manage, achieve sales target and personal sales target, need to work Full Shift & PH (less work life balance). Some nee dto cover different outlet. See everything must be reflecting on sales, sales & sales.

    Pharmacist Outlet Manager
    Mar 2022
3 to 4 years in the role, former employee
Poor management of outlet's floor, inventory, KPI & staff's well being.
The good thingsDaily routine start by learning numbers: daily sales target, product & vendor that offer attractive incentive, which outlet is currently leading the monthly sales chart, which sales advisor sells the most. Sales amount to be expected from a pharmacist is also there. Best place hard selling performed.
The challengesFelt like working MLM, anything & anyhow is about sales. Pharmacist as an Outlet Manager needed more than just letter from HR to be able to manage an outlet. Send them to proper management course/training. Not the daily pep talk with hq or few lines from CEO, those are just sales-marketing oriented.
