Be cautious of the image portrayed by the company, as it may not align with its actual practices
The good thingslocated near to my place (old HQ in Klang) but apparently relocated soon after
The challengesThere are a lot of red flags in this company. Recently there was just a mass retrenchment and the upper management is not being transparent about the truth. We were told the HQ closed because of financial difficulties but this is very contradicting. Despite claiming financial struggles, upper management have been aggressively recruiting fresh grad Management Trainees at salaries much higher than full time employees. We are given only 4 weeks notice and Chinese new year is around the corner. How is 4 weeks enought? This took place right after Christmas holiday and with CNY coming soon. All of us were left jobless with barely any time to prepare... This is just my opinion, but there are many concerning practices that seem to contradict the 'charity' and 'compassionate' image presented by this organization and its management board. If you’re considering working here, I would strongly advise caution.

    Toxic, biased, unfair work culture
The good thingsInsightful teachings about meditation
The challengesPromotions and recognition are given based on favoritism rather than actual work performance. You are more likely to be promoted if the founder, ceo or coo likes you. Full of empty promises. Management constantly takes advantage of employees' efforts. We're expected to work on weekends and public holidays, and even on our days off we're required to respond immediately to our bosses and often have to report back to the office. I've witnessed countless colleagues suffer severe burnout, depression and even hospitalization due to the relentless demands. Obvious authoritative and unfair treatment. The upper management would often flood newcomers, younger staff, and the public with appreciation and extravagant giveaways. But long-term employees, even after years of service, see no salary increases.

The good thingsPeople here are really nice. There is a lot to learn here. The mission of this organization is very meaningful.
The challengesCan be very fast paced, especially when there’s a huge event. One might have to deal with different tasks from different department at the same time.

Self interest with the pretext to help others
The good thingsCompassionate teachings from Grandmaster is truthful and insightful.
The challengesAn authoritarian working environment, although it contradicts with the mission and vision of the company. Superior and top management often take employee’s time for granted. They never show appreciation to employees’ time, effort and sincerity. They never admit their mistakes and never accept advise or feedback from employees. Aside from that, they never give constructive feedback on your job performance. The appraisal from your superior is rather shallow and out of the point as though they could not find useful things to appraise. Workload and compensation do not match. There is no increment, no opportunity to upskill or to progress in career, even though workload keeps increasing and overtime and weekends are spent more often. Think thrice before working in this company. It may be an experience for youngster, but you may find your hours spent there going down the drain every time.

    Average workplace and environment
The good thingsGood place to learn meditation.
The challengesIt may be tough for a young graduate to adapt as there is very little guidance and no training from the department as you take on the role. You may lose the sense of direction most of the time because of inexperience.

Overall acceptable workplace in the short-term
The good thingsIt has the normal pay and working hours like other companies.
The challengesThe workload is immense, so your effort may exceed the compensation often. Weekends are often required to complete certain tasks. Need to learn how to find the balance otherwise you are always at the edge of burnout. Despite the workload, there isn't much chance to progress further in career or getting better pay in the company. Also, be prepared that decision making from the top may not be objective at times.
