What’s it like working at Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Berhad?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Berhad offers several positive aspects, including a supportive colleague environment where employees help each other and create a family-like atmosphere. The company provides competitive compensation and benefits that are above market average, particularly for fresh graduates. Empowering, purpose-driven work with opportunities to grow, alongside challenges that push you to be better.
The good thingsWorking at CGC Malaysia has been a rewarding experience. The company plays a vital role in supporting the growth of Malaysian MSMEs, and it’s fulfilling to be part of a mission that has a real impact on the local economy. From a workplace perspective, CGC promotes a strong culture of integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement. There’s a clear commitment to employee development, and I’ve personally benefited from structured learning opportunities, leadership exposure, and cross-functional projects that have expanded my skill set. Overall, CGC is a great place for professionals who want to grow their careers while contributing to a meaningful cause. It’s an organisation that values both people and purpose.
The challengesLike any organisation, CGC Malaysia has its areas for improvement. One of the main challenges is navigating the pace of change, especially as we evolve our systems and frameworks to meet growing business needs. At times, decision-making processes can be lengthy due to layers of governance and approvals, which may slow down implementation or innovation. Additionally, as the organisation grows, clearer communication around career progression pathways and job rotations would be beneficial, particularly for younger talents or those seeking long-term development within the company. That said, what stands out is that CGC is open to feedback. Many of these challenges are already being addressed, and it's encouraging to see active steps being taken to improve processes, systems, and employee engagement.

One of the best jobs under good leaders until it became a toxic workplace
The good thingsthe job itself is one of the best job that i had experience. being a non-prescribed DFI/quasi-DFI with its own unique mandate. under good leaderships, the place is one the best to work at and i could not emphasise more how the job/projects that we have to oversee were and are still the best and interesting throughout my working experience. generally, people here are friendly and easy to work with. maybe a handful who have their own "air". 3 stars rating because the job is interesting and fun when under good leaderships.
The challengeswork culture here loves the "tai-chi" method. meetings are long winding without getting straight to the point and/or any conclusion. this made objectives unmet. sr mgt wont address the issue with the "culture" here, worried that it reflects bad management. family day/social rec budget cut to increase training budget, but employees do not get access due to "gatekeeper" has personal vendettas with those who have different opinion/disagreement from them. a lot of "kipas" or to the extreme - "aircond" culture. performance are based on who can aircond most, not by merit. undervalued, lowly paid, heavy workload & no career development unless you aircond. experienced a toxic boss that treats the team as its own enemy - fronting the dept on its own as if the works were a one-man-show without the team's support. demeaning & objectifying infront the team, also throws other depts' work to us. the company is becoming a toxic workplace due to toxic individuals who have the dotted lines to sr. mgt.

It’s better to find a company that values professional work rather than one focused on flattering bosses.
The good thingsThe only benefit here is a higher salary than the market average, but it comes with significant mental and physical strain.
The challengesThe toxic environment created by top management and extending through managerial levels forces all employees to adapt to negativity, making the workplace unpleasant for everyone.
