What’s it like working at Dong Foong?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Dong Foong offers some notable advantages, including competitive salaries compared to industry standards. Employees appreciate the support and camaraderie among colleagues, particularly within peer groups, and some value the training opportunities available in service operations and sales.

However, there are several areas that could be enhanced, including the medical benefits and leave policies. The company faces challenges with inconsistent decision-making processes and slow approvals that can affect project timelines. Additionally, inter-departmental communication could be improved, and the strong emphasis on working hard can impact work-life balance, particularly when taking leave is perceived negatively.

Supportive colleagues, but limited benefits, inconsistent development, and internal inefficiencies
The good thingsAppreciate the support and camaraderie from some of my colleagues (same batch) who value integrity and a commitment to doing what is right within the workplace.
The challengesThe medical benefits and opportunities for professional development could be improved, as access to training sometimes depends on managerial discretion. At times, the work environment doesn’t feel fully supportive, and the experience and contributions of long-serving staff may not always be recognised. The focus on “working hard” can lead to extra steps and paperwork, which makes it harder to focus on our main tasks. The company’s values are good, but they’re not always put into practice. Communication between departments can occasionally leave some team members out, and certain behaviours may be valued more than actual productivity. When new staff resign, existing or former employees may get blamed instead of looking at what’s causing the turnover.

Attractive salary, but poor direction and support affect wellbeing.
The good thingsSalary offered is relatively high compared to similar roles in the industry.
The challengesPD strategy and priorities are not consistently defined, which leads to shifting focus and project inefficiencies. Staff are often expected to work quickly, yet approvals and management decisions are slow — this mismatch can impact timelines and morale. Communication across departments can be unclear, making planning and execution more difficult. HR appears to have constrained authority, reducing its effectiveness at addressing employee concerns. Employee benefits are limited — there is no company medical insurance and medical leave policies only apply after probation. Taking leave can be perceived negatively, which affects work–life balance. When staff resign, the situation is often framed as an individual issue rather than evaluated for internal improvements.
