What’s it like working at Giant Leap Construction Sdn Bhd?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Giant Leap Construction offers attractive employee benefits including various allowances, free lunch, and accommodation. The company maintains a positive work atmosphere with helpful colleagues and minimal office politics. As a major player in the southern region's construction industry, there are good career advancement opportunities for employees.

The main considerations include adapting to Mandarin as the primary business language, which can present initial communication challenges for non-Mandarin speakers. The company follows Chinese public holidays rather than Malaysian holidays, which can affect work-life integration for local staff. Additionally, employees often need to manage multiple concurrent tasks, requiring strong multitasking abilities.

A good start for a junior to work with, gather experience in construction field, as we are actively involve in tendering, doing all types of constructions (infrastructure-transport, building commercial & housing, etc), offers good salary and allowances, and still practicing work-life balance with a decent working environment.
The good thingsBe the site QS, but can get the working day 5 days only like the office HQ working days. The staff benefits are sometimes includes the allowances initially made for China staff only.
The challengesAs they took several Public Holidays of China (China Independence Day, Mid Autumn Festival, Qingming, etc), they wiped off a few Malaysian common PH like Maulidurrasul, 1 Muharram, Thaipusam, etc. So eventhough the qty of PH is just the same with common Malaysian's, but it doesn't sync with them (especially when it regards the other family member's off day/ PH). So back to square one, the provided PH is only beneficial to the staff only. And of course for a non mandarin speaker, there is always a language barrier for everyday work.
