What’s it like working at Lloyd's Register?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees at Lloyd's Register appreciate the collaborative environment facilitated by the availability of meeting rooms, as well as the inclusive open-plan office where all employees share the same workspace. Colleagues are seen as key to creating an enjoyable working environment, and the company presents opportunities for growth for those who can adapt to challenging situations. Professionalism in getting the job done safely and perfectly is valued, and some teams enjoy flexibility and empowerment.

However, there are some potential challenges, such as the need for independent working if one's line manager is based elsewhere, concerns about senior management frequently changing directions and a lack of a coherent approach, resistance to changes being implemented, a need for more commercially-focused individuals in mid-management roles, scope for improving employee engagement, and occasional lack of cooperation and focus from some team members.

Absolutely nice office with a great group of colleagues
The good thingsThe office has a lot of meeting rooms, which signifies that Lloyd's Register encourages its employees to discuss with each other in order to come out with a good idea and solution. The company adapts an open-plan office environment. So, whether you are a director or a manager or an executive, all of you are sitting in the same hall with the same size of workstation.
The challengesYou need to be independent, especially if your Line Manager is based in another country.

    Technical Manager / Project Manager
    Jun 2019
7 to 8 years in the role, current employee
Loyd's Register opted to restructure the Energy business and negatively impacted the technical ability at local level. The senior management had been broadly unchanged and unlikely to effect tangible change or transformation that meet client's expectations for an organisation that focused on safety.
The good thingsPeople within the organisation has been the key for creating an enjoyable working environment. It is unlikely be sustainable with the latest senior Energy business stream management wishes to 'outward thinking' and expected to significantly alter value proposition of the organisation. However, this presents opportunities to people who could adapt in challenging environment.
The challengesSenior management seems to change directions in a cyclic manner and lack of coherent approach. The organisation struggles financially under Energy business streams from 2012 to 2019.
