What’s it like working at Machines Sdn Bhd?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees at Machines Sdn Bhd appreciate the supportive and friendly colleagues who create a family-like atmosphere and are always willing to help. The working environment is fun and positive, which boosts morale and makes the workplace enjoyable. Employees value the learning opportunities to gain product knowledge about Apple devices and improve their customer service skills. The training is well-organised and comprehensive, with support from in-store trainers and opportunities to attend sessions from Apple corporate office. Many also enjoy meeting and interacting with customers, particularly loyal customers and those passionate about technology.

However, there are some potential challenges. Some employees note that management and leadership can lack consistency in accountability, professionalism, and communication between different levels. The commission scheme changes frequently, which can affect motivation and make targets difficult to achieve. Several employees mention that the base salary is below average for retail positions. Employees find it challenging to sell MPP and ACPP (insurance products) to customers, as many are not interested. Handling difficult or demanding customers requires patience. Career growth and promotion opportunities can feel limited and inconsistent. Some employees also indicate that workload can be heavy, with frequent overtime and limited time for personal relaxation.

The job and the team are great, but it's difficult when you have emotional bosses who lack empathy
The good things-Good Teammates -Casual outfits -2 Times Bonus a year -Opportunities to learn about different department and their roles.
The challenges-Leadership from managers lacks consistency in accountability, empathy, and professionalism -Manpower issues during shifts are often blamed on the team instead of being properly managed, even though the shifts were assigned by the manager. -Career growth and salary increments are communicated as 'performance-based', but in practice can feel inconsistent -Favoritism appears to influence recognition and opportunities within the team -Employee well-being (e.g., Transportation/Medical/ Annual leaves) is not always handled with appropriate consideration and empathy, and no, they do not value work-life balance. -The only team that has a mandatory 'English Day' 3 times a week, and the seat arrangement is shuffled every few months.
