What’s it like working at ND Paper Malaysia?

    AI summary of recent reviews

ND Paper Malaysia offers some notable benefits, particularly in terms of above-market compensation and opportunities for technical learning, especially in power plant operations. Recent changes in leadership have shown promise, with new management demonstrating more openness to collaboration and employee engagement.

However, the company faces several operational challenges, including ongoing cultural integration between Chinese and Malaysian work practices, significant language barriers, and concerns about management style. Work-life balance can be challenging, with employees noting expectations for weekend work and after-hours availability. There are also opportunities to improve alignment with local practices and regulations.

A company moving in a positive direction with stronger cultural integration and leadership.
The good thingsI have seen meaningful improvements in the company’s leadership direction. Previously, there were challenges in communication and cultural alignment. However, with the new management team in place, the environment has become much more open, supportive, and engaging. The current leaders show strong willingness to listen, collaborate, and integrate local culture into operations. This positive change creates better teamwork and brings more confidence to local employees. It would not be fair to judge the company based on past management. With the ongoing improvements, I believe the company is moving in a good direction and will continue to strengthen its reputation in Malaysia.
The challengesAt the same time, there are still ongoing challenges. The transition from a traditionally China-centric work culture to a more diverse and inclusive environment requires time and continuous effort. Some individuals may still be adjusting to the new leadership direction, and communication barriers can occasionally create misunderstandings. There is also a need to further strengthen awareness of local laws and regulations so that everyone operates with the same understanding and respect.
