Great for building a portfolio and learning if you're willing to hustle very very hard, but it's not a sustainable long-term careerThe good thingsThe talent at this agency was truly some of the best I've ever seen. I was fortunate to work with colleagues who were both amazing at their jobs and genuinely friendly and helpful. The pay was a nice bonus, sitting just above market rate, and the benefits package was great before the recent NPD changes. The previous management team was especially good at listening to feedback and went out of their way to make sure everyone felt heard and supported (to the best of their abilities).
The challengesThe company’s obsession with "all-rounders" seems to be a clever way to overwork people, with "specialist" roles being more of a suggestion than an actual job description. Everyone is expected to handle everything, only calling for help when the whole thing is about to collapse. The required upskilling often feels like a punishment, forced on you regardless of whether it's useful, on top of a workload that's already insane. It really makes you wonder if you’re back in school with mandatory co-curricular activities or if this is actually a workplace.
Take the content specialists, for example. They’re a one-person circus, juggling client communication, content creation, SEO reporting, and pitching. Then there’s the bizarre unspoken rule that everything has to be positive, so talking about problems or even someone quitting is a no-go. When you combine all this with a notice period that feels like a prison sentence, you get a pretty "unique" work environment.
