What’s it like working at Searchguru Sdn Bhd?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Searchguru Sdn Bhd stands out for its talented and supportive workforce that fosters a family-like atmosphere. The company offers attractive compensation including above-market pay and comprehensive benefits such as medical insurance, dental allowance, and laptop subsidies. The flexible working hours and relaxed office environment, complete with convenient amenities, contribute to employee satisfaction.

However, employees should be prepared for the company's approach to multi-role responsibilities, which can result in substantial workloads. The work environment requires significant self-discipline and independence, and some employees note that work can become routine over time with fewer new challenges presenting themselves.

Great for building a portfolio and learning if you're willing to hustle very very hard, but it's not a sustainable long-term career
The good thingsThe talent at this agency was truly some of the best I've ever seen. I was fortunate to work with colleagues who were both amazing at their jobs and genuinely friendly and helpful. The pay was a nice bonus, sitting just above market rate, and the benefits package was great before the recent NPD changes. The previous management team was especially good at listening to feedback and went out of their way to make sure everyone felt heard and supported (to the best of their abilities).
The challengesThe company’s obsession with "all-rounders" seems to be a clever way to overwork people, with "specialist" roles being more of a suggestion than an actual job description. Everyone is expected to handle everything, only calling for help when the whole thing is about to collapse. The required upskilling often feels like a punishment, forced on you regardless of whether it's useful, on top of a workload that's already insane. It really makes you wonder if you’re back in school with mandatory co-curricular activities or if this is actually a workplace. Take the content specialists, for example. They’re a one-person circus, juggling client communication, content creation, SEO reporting, and pitching. Then there’s the bizarre unspoken rule that everything has to be positive, so talking about problems or even someone quitting is a no-go. When you combine all this with a notice period that feels like a prison sentence, you get a pretty "unique" work environment.

    Clear Direction and Respectful Environment
The good thingsThe CEO is very clear in what they want and what environment and culture they want to achieve in this company. A very friendly and family vibe kind of culture while working there. Colleagues were helpful and there is a lot to learn.
The challengesIt is very important to be very disciplined. Although the working environment is considered relaxing and there are not many restrictions but it can be challenging if you're not a disciplined person. Self-control is key.

    Overall Job Satisfaction
The good thingsColleagues are great, and the year end bonus is awesome! Boss bought us beanie bags, benefits are great, subsidy for laptop, dental allowance, medical insurance, we also get to visit the Google office and a few other events. Parking space is okay and the parking fee is also considerable, food is always available because the office is located beside a mall. Flexible working hours.
The challengesWork gets stale after a period of time, new challenges becomes lesser and lesser.
