What’s it like working at Singapore Arts School Ltd?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees appreciate the convenient location near Orchard Road with easy access by public transport, as well as the friendly and approachable colleagues across departments. The benefits are good, including affordable canteen food, and working hours are generally reasonable, typically from 8:30am to 6pm with limited overtime outside of peak periods.

However, there are some potential challenges, such as noise levels in the office due to frequent loud talking and gossip in specific departments, limited opportunities for career development and training with some employees feeling stuck in their roles, a bureaucratic structure with multiple levels of approval that may slow down processes, and tight deadlines and high pressure in certain roles, particularly in HR, which can impact work-life balance.

Have its pros and cons and more stressful than relaxing
The good thingsCanteen food is cheap and you can save much money eating there Colleagues in other departments are friendly and approachable Many areas that you can go to for a breather You come at 830 and leave at 6. Not much overtime to do unless you have too many things to do or during peak periods.
The challengesVery loud gossip going on within specific departments, makes it very distracting for people who needs to get things done. Stuck in a role and lack of opportunities for job development and training. Very bureaucratic and rigid, which although internal controls are strong, it makes it harder for you to get things settled faster. You need to be very careful to meeting deadlines because of the multiple levels of authority and approval above you.

Good if you just work for living
The good thingsGood benefit, friendly colleagues, suitable for working till retirement
The challengesSome illogical procedures. Frequent loud talking and laughing at office. Employees who work there longer have more powerful voice.

A retirement home for incompetent leaders
The good thingsFew colleagues who will stick with you through thick and thin for a short period of time before resigning.
The challengesIgnorance is strength. That's the motto you should adopt in your life if you wish to survive and do well in this organization. Ironic for an organization specializing in education. Board of directors should reorg the operation restructure or return the institution back to MOE's care.
