What’s it like working at South Island Garment?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees at South Island Garment appreciate the friendly work environment with supportive colleagues, as well as the company's efforts to promote a good work-life balance through flexible working hours. The company's strong emphasis on ESG principles, prioritising sustainability, ethical practices, and social responsibility, is also commended. Fresh graduates value the learning opportunities provided, allowing them to gain experience from the basics to the end of the garment-making process.

However, there are some potential areas for improvement. Employees have noted the need to accelerate the digitalisation process and move away from manual record-keeping. Additionally, employees may need to multitask and take on additional responsibilities when colleagues leave, as there are no new hires. Some employees feel that the compensation and benefits, particularly for fresh graduates, could be improved. Lastly, there is a need for effective communication, especially when working with foreign workers who may have language barriers.

Good for fresh grads, not for long term career growth
The good thingsGood for fresh graduates as you will learn a lot, have to learn from the most basic things until end of process but depends on what team they assigned you for. Supportive teammates, friendly environment. workload still workable and no need to work overtime unless urgent cases (most of the time no need). work life balance.
The challengeslow salary for fresh grads, biased on one race, a lot of manual work but heard that will change to new system but dont know when start, minimal benefits, a lot more to nag.. but overall still not a bad company to start
