The management, operation and maintenance of the water treatment facilities under Sungai Selangor Phase 1 (“SSP 1”) that currently supplies to large areas of Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, Klang, Kuala Selangor, Kuang and Kundang is undertaken by Sungai Harmoni Sdn Bhd (“Sungai Harmoni”).Sungai Harmoni is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Taliworks and the company was incorporated as a private limited company in Malaysia under the Companies Act on 15 December 1992. Sungai Harmoni has an authorised share capital of RM5,000,000 comprising 5,000,000 ordinary shares of RM1.00 each and an issued and fully paid-up capital of RM5,000,000 comprising 5,000,000 ordinary shares of RM1.00 each.SSP1 is one of the biggest water treatment plants in Malaysia with a nominal design capacity of 950 million litres per day (“MLD”). The operations of the SSP1 are headed by the Senior Manager. He is assisted by the Manager (Operations) who oversees the production facilities, the Manager (Mechanical & Electrical) who oversees the plant maintenance and Manager (Quality Assurance and Quality Control) who oversees the water quality aspects of the treated water.In line with the commitment to water quality excellence, Sungai Harmoni has continued to carry out a comprehensive set of water quality testing of the treated water to ensure compliance with water quality standards at all times. It has, on its own accord, instituted a river monitoring program of critical points on monthly basis and also river basin surveillance programme on quarterly basis to monitor the raw water quality in the Sungai Selangor catchments upstream of the intake; this is to be forewarned of potential changes in the raw water quality that may require adjustments to the treatment regime.Backed by the most modern water treatment technology and computer-based SCADA telemetry monitoring of process data, this facility produces treated water that complies with the quality standards of the Malaysian Ministry of Health and the World Health Organisation.SSP1 was conferred with the ISO 9001: 2008 Quality Management Systems Certification from SIRIM QAS International for the Operation and Maintenance of SSP1 Water Treatment Plant.It has also recently secured the ISO/IEC 27001: 2005 Information Security Management System from SIRIM QAS International for management of information associate with the operation of Water Treatment Plant, Water Intake Pump Station and Matang Pagar and Bkt Mayong Reservoirs.
