UTB was established in 1986 and since it was upgraded to a full university status in 2008, UTB has been able to position and develop itself as an institution of higher learning in the country and region. The university rose by 63 places in 2019 and is ranked at 379. In the latest edition of the QSWUR 2021, UTB is now at the 350th place, up 29 places. This has also ranked UTB at 51 for Young Global University under 50 years of age and this presents another great achievement since UTB is a very young university.In the 2019 edition of QS Asia University Rankings, UTB is ranked at 181, the top 36 per cent among over 500 institutions across the continent. In the 2020 edition, UTB managed to climb 44 places and is ranked at 137, making UTB among the top 150 universities in Asia. UTB is the only local university to receive a five-star ranking from the QS Stars rating, and the first university to have successfully acquired the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Certification by the Bureau Veritas in July 2019.In terms of academic programmes, the university has attained accreditation from the British Computing Society (BCS) for all degree programmes under the School of Computing and Informatics as well as accreditation from the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM) for degree programmes offered by the Civil Engineering Programme Area, Faculty of Engineering. The Bachelor of Business (Hons) in Accounting and Information Systems programme of our university is accredited by Association of Chartered Certifies Accountants (ACCA) and also part of ACCA Accelerate programme which provides an option for our students to obtain ACCA qualification within their study period in Universiti Teknologi Brunei. UTB currently offers 25 undergraduate degree programmes including its part-time degrees and 10 Master’s Degrees and PhD programmes.Today, UTB has some 1,550 students including 177 MSc Students and 99 PhD students, and 144 faculty members.
