Johor Bahru Johor2 to 3 years in the role, former employee
    Work overload and underpaid
The good thingsNice and friendly colleagues. Team members are supportive and help each other.
The challengesLow salary with a heavy workload. Management receives more benefits while staff salaries and bonuses are reduced. Toxic management where employees are not encouraged to speak up. Staff can be terminated easily, for small reasons. Staff turnover is very high. Job scope is not clear, and employees are often required to handle tasks outside their responsibilities. It is also difficult for Muslim staff to find time to perform prayers.

    Poor management skills.
The good thingsNice and supportive colleague.
The challengesLack of a structured performance appraisal system and clearly defined job scopes, which lead to salary allocations that do not fully reflect employees’ responsibilities and performance. No work life balance and lack of benefits.

Family business and always last minute changes. Their vision not align with their action.
The good thingsFriendly and nice colleague
The challengesManagement experience in dealing with new market challenges is insufficient. Ongoing last-minute changes place unnecessary strain on subordinates. The remuneration package does not align with prevailing market rates.

    No further career development
The good thingsHigh basic and free food without overpaying like customers
The challengesEverything else, management enjoys micro managing regarding operation. They are like monitoring staff every movement 24/7. Stocks and marketing don’t align. The company run by family with no experience in operation hands on, only good with talking.

Micromanagement/ excessive control over decision making
The good thingsGet to know more what else is important rather than just running a day to day routine. Having a right managing material management skill is more than anything else.
The challengesHave to cope with all the last minute changes or special requirements, as the upper management would not inform or brief us in advanced.

It teach me management skills however the top management need to improve their credibility in managing the employees
The good thingsThey trust us to manage all the restaurant operation, no strict audit procedure by the management, and they provide us daily overtime to earn more money.
The challengesBenefit to their staff such as staff meals as you all know mostly in food & beverage industry they will give their staff the meals for the day. Also I do hope they improve their salary package to the restaurant management employees to be more competitive according to the insdustry level.
