What’s it like working at Wawasan Open University?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees at Wawasan Open University appreciate the beautiful seaside location and pleasant working environment, which many find conducive and relaxing. The supportive and friendly colleagues create a family-like atmosphere, whilst understanding managers provide guidance and motivation. Staff value the flexible working hours, stress-free environment, and good company benefits, including competitive bonuses, public holidays, and company-sponsored festival celebrations.

However, there are some potential challenges to consider. Micromanagement has been noted in certain departments, which can limit staff empowerment and decision-making opportunities. Career advancement and promotion processes could be enhanced, with some concern about salary increments for long-serving employees compared to new hires. The workload can be demanding at times, with multiple tasks and occasional last-minute requests. Some roles require weekend and public holiday work, and salaries may be below market rates in certain positions.

It's a good starting point for fresh graduates, or if ur desperately unemployed, u cannot stay there too long because salary increase only by RM50-90 per year (maybe just more to the higher ups or favourites)
The good thingsGood digital platform, visionary leader as the VC, great location by the beach
The challengesWorking with not-so-professional old staffs who hate changes, academics memberes lack of respects to admin n support staffs, the higher-ups have personal bias in ethnicity when it comes to promotion and salary, they also dont reward loyalty of old staffs but rather offer higher pays to new hires
