A Coordinator's role involves organising people, tasks or projects within a business or for events. Coordinators often manage schedules, workloads and various administrative tasks making sure each one is completed smoothly, within a budget and on deadline. They liaise with different departments, contractors or volunteers, follow-up on progress and resolve issues as they arise. Coordinators may work in a wide variety of settings, such as offices, non-profit organisations, educational institutions or for corporate functions and conferences.
Tasks and duties
- Planning project tasks and completing them on time and within budget.
- Communicating between different departments or team members and providing updates on progress.
- Organising meetings by setting the agenda, taking minutes and distributing them afterwards.
- Solving issues and making strategic decisions to keep activities on track.
- Maintaining plans and updating them as required while reporting back to key stakeholders.
- Managing resources and scheduling activities that align with timelines.
- Liaising with clients, suppliers and contractors when necessary.
How to become a Coordinator
At least a Diploma is required for the role. Interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and experience in management are an advantage.
