Tasks and duties
- Inspecting the efficiency and durability of equipment and making repairs or replacement when necessary.
- Performing regular maintenance to meet production quality expectations.
- Feeding raw materials into machines.
- Interpreting blueprints and performing tests on finished products.
- Operating trucks and other vehicles to transport equipment and materials to various locations.

Production Operators often work with several manufacturing processes all at once, acting as the link that propels the production forward. They also test finished products and record their conditions.
How to become a Production Operator
Formal education isn’t necessary to become a Production Operator. However, employers tend to hire experienced applicants.
- 1.In some workplaces that deal with high-tech equipment, you may need to complete your secondary school education or the SKM Level 3. It will also be beneficial if you are adept in computer software and hardware, mechanics, and general mathematics. Many Production Operator jobs require prior experience in a role such as a Cashier or a Customer Service Representative.
- 2.Choose an industry. This is important because there are many industries that offer employment to Production Operators, such as food and beverage, clothes, mining or transport.
