What's it like to be a Travel Agent?
Travel Agents are in charge of planning, booking, and providing tour packages for clients who may be travelling for holiday, business, or both. They find and book the best flights, accommodation, and entertainment activities for travellers based on their needs, budget, and preferences.Tasks and duties
- Suggesting travel routes, itineraries, and flight details based on client needs and budget.
- Putting together tour packages depending on the client's preferred length of stay and budget.
- Customising travel packages as needed.
- Arranging flight and hotel details for travellers.
- Managing aspects of the booking process including reservation and final fees, as well as important documents.
- Advising travellers on required documents for entry such as visas.
- Making transportation arrangements for travellers.
How to become a Travel Agent
While there is no required degree or prerequisite to work as a Travel Agent, an educational background in tourism can be an advantage. That said, companies may prefer jobseekers with at least a secondary school certificate or any diploma, as well as any valid ID.
- 1.Complete a qualification in tourism or another related field.
- 2.If you plan on operating as a Travel Agent and you plan on starting your own travel agency, you will be required to register for a Licence to Carry on or Operate a Tour Operating Business and Travel Agency Business (TOBTAB). You may register online, upload the required documents, and pay the required fee.
