A Valuable Learning Experience with Unfortunate Setbacks
The good thingsFast Career Progression: I joined the company as a senior software developer, and within two months, my Managing Director recognized my potential in managing and promoted me to a Project Manager. Project Management Opportunities: I enjoyed managing various projects and had the privilege of setting up my own team, overseeing a portfolio that included Application Support, QA and BA. Employee Appreciation: The company organized numerous activities and showed genuine appreciation for its employees, creating a positive work environment.
The challengesLack of Empathy: When I faced health issues, the HR department's response was insensitive, emphasizing my potential successor rather than showing empathy and support. Misunderstanding: Despite my willingness to work from home and support ongoing projects and meetings, the company started to perceive me as being incapable of working effectively due to my health issues. Lack of Support: The situation worsened in 2018, with the company's attitude taking a toll on my well-being and job satisfaction, despite my dedication and commitment for the past five years. Decision to Leave: Ultimately, the lack of support and understanding led me to seek a new job, and I made the difficult decision to leave the company, especially as remote work became more common due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
