What’s it like working at Lotus's?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees at Lotus's appreciate their friendly and supportive colleagues, which creates a pleasant working atmosphere. The office environment is comfortable and professional, with amenities such as coffee machines. Staff value the opportunity to develop skills and gain diverse experience in communication and teamwork, and enjoy unique perks such as free food testing for new products.

However, there are some potential challenges. Some employees note that management may lack understanding of day-to-day operational challenges and practical solutions. Workload can be heavy, with frequent ad hoc projects and expectations to work beyond standard hours without claimable overtime. Budget targets can be challenging to achieve, and benefits and salary have been reduced since separation from Tesco UK and may be lower than market rates. Additionally, experienced staff in finance have observed that career advancement opportunities may be more readily available to younger employees, and the appraisal system could benefit from greater clarity and transparency.

Underappreciated, unrealistic expectations, bad leadership with very limited employee benefits.
The good things(1) Peer colleagues are fun, friendly, and supportive, but not the bosses. They are 24/7 work-oriented type. (2) Bosses are generally nice in the sense that they are willing to share knowledge and would not scolding unreasonably type. But their leadership & people management skills are very, very lacking - which similar feedback received from colleagues across different finance teams. (3) Free food tester! (The only 2nd i thing i love apart from having the fun colleagues) Its given to us to try out and give feedback before being released to the market.
The challenges(1) Bosses feel more like “just bosses” rather than actual leaders. Very little understanding of what’s really happening on the floor or the challenges that the subordinates face daily. Often ask to share concerns, but when issues are raised, response is usually just “everything will be okay” without any practical solution. (2) Bosses tend to say our work is “easy,” despite not fully understanding the actual processes & workload involved. In fact, more & more tasks keep getting added. Also the type to agree to every request from upper mgmt without properly considering the team’s current capacity. When workloads become overwhelming, the pressure is then pushed down to subordinates to work faster & meet unrealistic expectations. (3) No clear appraisal system in place. Often being told “not performing enough,” but no clarity on how performance is measured. To bosses, growth only comes with taking on much heavier workloads & expect to spend extra outside working hrs to complete them.
