What’s it like working at FamilyMart?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees appreciate the learning opportunities at FamilyMart, gaining valuable experience in both retail and F&B operations, which is particularly beneficial for fresh graduates. The benefits and allowances are well-regarded, including staff meals, COLA allowances, and various incentives. Many staff enjoy the friendly work environment and appreciate working with supportive colleagues who demonstrate good teamwork. Employees find satisfaction in providing excellent customer service, and several note that work-life balance is good with flexible working hours.

However, there are some potential challenges, such as concerns with management, including leadership and communication issues at various levels. The workload can be demanding due to limited staffing, often requiring employees to handle multiple tasks alone, particularly during busy periods. Staff mention experiencing high pressure to meet daily sales targets and maintain performance standards. The role can be physically demanding, requiring long periods of standing during 6-7 hour shifts, and employees work in rotational shifts rather than standard office hours.

Poor management from the HQ and lack of empathy
The good thingsHelpful & understanding staff
The challengesProblematic AM, scandal with multiple staff. Bad example to staff. Attitude comes first before work ethic. I worked 2 years without MC. The 3rd year i took 2 days MC and he was mad, saying this and that. It broke my heart. I’ve given everything, sacrificing my personal life, covered double shifts multiple times, getting good audit marks and incentive but that was what i get in return. After the 3rd year, i was totally exhausted and get sick a lot. I realised it wasn’t worth it.

Always short-staffed. People multitask at the highest, no work-life balance.
The good thingsTheir staff meal and COLA allowances quite good. You can learn a lot about retail and f&b here. The only things that makes me happy is when my customer satisfied with my service. Some of the customers show empathy at how we work when we have to handle everything alone.
The challengesHigher management should look at how they can help staff to handle all the work pressure and give support instead off give more works and expect all done but the one who have to do it ALONE. They do not even care about staff, they only care about sales. Poor leadership from higher management.
