The good thingsAll the job scopes assigned to me provided valuable exposure to real industry practices. Each task allowed me to learn new technical and soft skills, making my internship experience at Nestlé both meaningful and rewarding. The variety of responsibilities also reflected the company’s supportive environment and commitment to intern development.
The challengesComing from a biotechnology background, most of my previous experience focused on laboratory-based work, which involved limited interaction with others. During my internship in the Application Group at Nestlé, I had to communicate and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders from different departments. This was initially challenging as I was not used to frequent cross-functional interaction and professional communication in a corporate setting.
To help interns adapt more effectively, the company could provide a short orientation or workshop on stakeholder communication and collaboration skills early in the internship. This would help interns, especially those from technical or lab-based backgrounds, to build confidence and understand how to communicate effectively in a corporate environment.
