What’s it like working at Roland Berger Strategy Consultants?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees at Roland Berger Strategy Consultants appreciate the good opportunities for growth, with consultants given responsibility earlier than expected. The firm has a meritocratic culture where high performers are promoted quicker. There are also efforts to allow more international and regional staffing and training, though this could be improved compared to competitors. Employees value the learning environment with good bosses and teams that teach them.

However, there are some potential challenges. The pay is lower than the industry standard for strategy houses, though higher than the Big 4 firms. Some managers do not prioritise consultants' wellbeing as much as they could. There are concerns about too many projects in a single industry, lacking diversity. Additionally, projects are often understaffed, leading to overpromising and a worse work-life balance than industry standards.

Decent place to get into Strategy Consulting
The good things- Good opportunities for growth (you get responsibility a lot earlier than expected) - Meritocratic culture, you will get promoted quicker if you're good - Conscious effort to allow more international and regional staffing & training (but could be improved compared to competitors)
The challenges- Lower pay than industry standard (higher than big 4, but lower than all other strategy houses) - Couple of bosses don't actually care about consultants' wellbeing - Too many projects to a single industry (not enough diversity) - Often understaffed for projects and projects which have overpromised (generally worse work life balance than industry standard)
