SLB strengthened my skills, boosted my confidence, and shaped me into a more proactive professional. The good thingsMy internship as a Fixed Asset Analyst was truly rewarding — I gained real, hands-on experience with SAP, asset lifecycle management, and financial reporting. The team empowered me with meaningful responsibilities, from preparing Fixed Asset Tracking and Movement Reports to supporting audits and ensuring master data accuracy. I also sharpened my Excel and Power BI skills while learning to work in a fast-paced, global environment at the GBS KL Hub. The culture is supportive, professional, and growth-oriented, and I always felt encouraged to ask questions and learn. SLB is a great place to build a strong foundation in finance and develop the confidence to thrive in corporate roles.
The challengesOne of the main challenges I faced during my internship at SLB was the limited system access due to my intern scope, which restricted me from performing certain transactions independently. This sometimes slowed down my learning curve as I had to rely on analysts to validate or execute certain updates. Another challenge was the inconsistent task flow, some days were packed with deadlines, while other days had very few tasks, which required me to be proactive in approaching colleagues and asking for work. Additionally, the team often handled high volumes of requests, so mentorship time was limited, and I had to learn quickly by observing, researching, and asking focused questions. Despite these challenges, they helped me develop stronger initiative, adaptability, and communication skills, and taught me how to take ownership of my own learning in a corporate environment.
