It is about ten years ago that the foundation addressed the need of the underprivileged children via a three-pronged approach by forming three programmes which are Budimas Home Charity Fund (BHCF), Budimas Food Charity Fund (BFCF) and Budimas Education Charity Fund (BECF). This addresses the three basic necessities of a child which are food, education and a home.Under the umbrella of BHCF the foundation began by supporting 6 charitable homes with 272 children, in the year 2002. Today, we support over 1,500 children from 31 homes across Malaysia including the foundation’s very own children shelter, Budimas Orion Home which is located in Senawang, Negeri Sembilan. These homes are given financial assistance to help them cope with shortages in their funds for basic expenses.BFCF (Food) was initiated to ensure that children from poor families who can't afford to have their breakfast will not go to school hungry. The program began in July 2010, with 6 schools in Kapar, Klang involving 350 children. Today, we are supporting more than 6,000 children from 106 public schools across Malaysia. The children are provided nutritious breakfast with per meal RM2.50 during their schooling days.Under BECF (Education), this fund aims to provide education to underprivileged children, targeting rural villages in Malaysia. The key strategy is to establish educational facilities, such as libraries, in poor villages in our country. One of the objective is to encourage the Orang Asli children to read and to cultivate their passion towards education with the educational materials furnished in the libraries. There are already 7 libraries in operations (in Selangor, Kelantan and N.Sembilan) with 10 more under construction (in Selangor and Pahang). Each library are equipped with 4,000 English & Malay children's reading material (80% of the books required public donation), fixtures and furniture and other facilitates. The cost of building a library is RM180,000.
