- Organising the classroom while managing its operations and expectations.
- Coordinating activities and resources that fall under a specific area within the curriculum.
- Maintain an open line with parents regarding students’ progress.
- Preparing students for further education or for employment.
- Developing engaging and stimulating activities for effective learning.
How to become an Educator
There are different paths you can take in order to become an Educator in Malaysia.
- 1.Take the Program Persediaan Ijazah Sarjana Muda Perguruan (PPISMP), a one-year preparatory course for all aspiring teachers, before entering the four-year Program Ijazah Sarjana Muda Perguruan (PISMP). The five-year programme allows graduates to teach at government primary schools across Malaysia.
- 2.After taking your Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), you can also proceed to take up Matriculation for one or two years. After that, you can apply for a degree in education and be placed in secondary schools towards the end of your studies.
- 3.If you did not achieve the required grades after taking SPM, you may also take up Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM), an 18-month pre-university programme, before pursuing a degree in education.
- 4.After acquiring the qualifications, you may take specialisation courses in the field of education you would like to pursue. This can be a master of arts degree, a short course, or workshops and training on the specific area of work.
