Junior Administration Officer
Last week, first time sejak mula bekerja 10months ago, I datang lambat 15 mins sbb traffic jam. This week, tiba2 sampai warning letter dekat I. It's my 1st job so i'm quite confused. Memang kalau kita 1st time buat salah, terus dpt warning letter eh? Tak kena tegur dulu? I always thought WL is for something yg betul2 serious like dtg lambat more than 5x in a month or you tiba2 tak dtg kerja few days tak inform boss. Mcm mana nk fight WL ni sbb I tak rasa I tak patut dpt pun. Or, is this normal?

Kalau sekali je lambat terus kena warning letter, itu memang over! Sepatutnya supervisor tegur dulu, bukan terus keluarkan surat. You boleh cuba bincang elok-elok dengan HR atau supervisor, tanya kenapa tak diberi verbal warning dulu. Kalau ada bukti you memang consistently punctual sebelum ni, lagi kuat point you tak bersalah.

Usually kalau first time datang lambat, boss atau HR akan bagi verbal warning dulu bukan terus bagi warning letter. Better you minta appointment dengan supervisor or HR, explain situasi traffic jam tu and tunjuk you memang reliable selama ni. Communication penting supaya dorang nampak you serius nak improve.

Faham rasa confuse tu sebab first job memang banyak benda baru nak belajar. Kalau saya jadi you, saya akan minta clear guidelines daripada HR tentang polisi disiplin mereka. Kadang-kadang, company ada standard yang ketat tapi kena tahu hak kita juga. Jangan lupa simpan bukti kehadiran dan communication supaya boleh defend diri kalau perlu.

Kalau ikut law, sepatut nya di berikan verbal warning sebnyak 3 kali. Jika masih berlaku, baru la di berikan 1 warning latter, jika berlaku sampai 3 kali warning letter, baru la termnate

Biasa company besar dan beribu pekerja memang attendance mmg kena sharp. First time lambat terus kena warning letter memang abnormal. In case, kena terminate sbb cukup 3 WL, boleh buat aduan ke Jebatan Tenaga Kerja. Yang penting ada valid reason.

You can ask around with the seniors how the company deals with employee tardiness. If semua pun kena WL setiap kali datang lambat, so then nothing you can do la, since it's the company policy that does not condone any form of tardiness. You just need to figure out if it is a selected punishment or fair towards everyone before reporting it to the nearest JTK.
