Tried to be a fair manager, but I’m done tolerating nonsense at work. Set clear expectations, held people accountable, and somehow that makes me the villain. Apparently, asking for basic competence is “too much" and now I’m the bad guy because I won’t let things slide. 😒 It’s frustrating when the bare minimum feels like a favor instead of, you know… their actual job. At this point, I don’t even care if they like me, i just want them to do their work properly. Am i being too harsh?

I’ve been in my role for a while now, and I feel ready to step up into a management position. But instead of jumping straight in, I was thinking—can I ask for a “trial run” as a manager first? Like taking on temporary leadership duties to prove I’m capable before making it official. How do I bring this up without sounding unsure or overstepping? Anyone ever tried this approach before? Would love to hear if it worked and how you pitched the idea!

I just got promoted jadi manager untuk 1st time, and I tengah struggle nak adapt. My team sekarang kecil, cuma 4 orang, and honestly, I rasa macam I kena handle semua benda sendiri sebab takde assistant. Semua kerja admin, planning, & execution I yang kena settlekan. So I wonder, kalau team besar, adakah lagi senang sebab ada assistant tolong like 2-3 AMs, atau sebenarnya lagi serabut sebab kena handle ramai orang? Korang yang pernah manage both small and big teams, boleh share your experience?

Why GEN Z nowadays love playing with their phone so much. They seem so busy on their phone, even when you asked them to do their work, they didn't do it instantly.

I’m currently a manager in the telco industry, but honestly, I feel like I’ve hit a plateau. The thought of jumping to a different industry keeps popping up, but I’m wondering...can someone like me make that leap? Skills like leadership and strategy are transferable, sure, but how do I convince a completely different industry that I’m their next great hire? Anyone done this before? Feels like starting over but also like a fresh adventure.

Building a great work culture sounds simple, but in reality, it’s a constant work in progress. I’ve tried so many things...team lunches, casual Fridays, even setting up an anonymous feedback system but somehow, it still feels like we could do better. Some colleagues say it’s all about hiring the right people, while others think it’s about reinforcing core values. I wonder, is it team activities that actually make the difference, or just making sure everyone feels heard and valued?

Building a Strong Team Culture in F&B
Great food isn’t enough—strong team culture drives success. Leading Haidilao’s expansion in Cambodia, I’ve learned three key factors:
1️⃣ Training & Empowerment – Well-trained teams provide better service and feel valued.
2️⃣ Clear Communication – Seamless coordination keeps operations smooth.
3️⃣ Positive Work Environment – A happy team creates a great dining experience.
What do you think matters most in team culture? Let’s discuss!
