Boss aku baru announce yang company nak sponsor kelas Mandarin untuk semua staff. Katanya, sebab banyak client dan supplier kita dari China, so kalau boleh cakap Mandarin, lagi senang nak deal. Aku faham logik dia. boleh improve communication, tambah value dalam kerja. Tapi honestly, aku malas nak belajar. Aku rasa macam banyak commitment lain, plus bukan semua orang boleh catch up dengan language learning. Kalau aku tak join, salah ke? Korang rasa berbaloi tak belajar?

Dulu i belajar Cantonese dari TV je. I watched drama HK, variety show, semua layan. Sekarang I boleh ckp sikit2 tapi masalahnya takde orang nak practise. Kat ofis ada a few colleagues yang cakap Cantonese, tapi macam awkward pulak kalau tiba2 i nak try speaking dengan diorang. Tak nak nampak macam "Hello guyss i pun boleh cakap Cantonese!" Tapi kalau tak start, sampai bila-bila pun tak improve. Macam mana nak approach my friends without nampak mcm try hard sgt?

Some job listings even list it as ‘mandatory.’ For those who can speak Mandarin, does it actually give you better career opportunities or higher pay? I’m finding it tough to work with one of my colleagues due to a serious language barrier. Their BM and English aren’t great, and it’s causing a lot of miscommunication, especially during important tasks. I don’t want to make them feel uncomfortable, but it’s starting to affect our work.
