Kerja hotel nampak glamor, tapi ada dark side dia. Kena kerja long hours, especially weekends, cuti umum, time raya—bila orang lain enjoy, kita still on duty. Kalau minat, go for it. Tapi kena ready mental dan fizikal sebab kerja hotel bukan senang!

As a fresh grad, I’m interested in working in the hospitality industry but I’m not sure what degrees companies typically look for. Do they mostly prefer hotel management or tourism-related degrees? And for someone just starting out, what’s the salary range like? I’ve heard it can vary a lot depending on the role. Anyone with experience in this field who can give me some insight? Would love to know what to expect!

Lately, I’ve been considering a career in the hotel industry. I’ve always admired how hotels operate like well-oiled machines, creating seamless experiences for guests. 🏨 But honestly, I’m not sure where to start. Is it tough to break into this field without prior experience? Do employers care more about skills and personality, or is hands-on experience non-negotiable? I’d love to hear from those who’ve been in the industry—what makes someone stand out when applying for hotel jobs?

Kerja dalam bidang tourism kat Malaysia ni kadang rasa macam battle yang tak berkesudahan. 🥲 Setiap kali cuba convince orang datang bercuti dkt tempat kitorang (Langkawi), mesti kena compare dengan Thailand—sana hotel murah, makan murah, aktiviti banyak. Kenapa ek kita tak boleh follow benda basic macam pricing and value for money tu? Padahal tempat kita pun cantik, budaya kaya. Rasa sayang bila tengok potential ada, tapi semua mahal. Padahal Langkawi ni duty free kot. Patut murah2 je la

I come from a science background, but my real passion has always been cooking and baking. I’m thinking of applying for a job as a cook in a hotel, but I’m not sure if they’d even consider me since I don’t have formal culinary training. Does anyone know if hotels hire people like me? Or do I need to take a course first? I really want to step into the hospitality line, just not sure how to start
