Pelik ke kalau I ni sejenis yang taknak naik pangkat? I nak hidup tenang je. I suka kerja I sekarang...ada work life balance, gaji okay, kerja tak teruk, time cuti takde org kacau. I baru2 ni dapat offer jadi manager. I tolak guys. Sebab I rasa I tak sesuai nak bimbing orang. I takde ciri2 seorang leader pun. Then ada yg ckp RUGI I lepaskan peluang keeemasan tu. Bukan senang boss nak offer. Hmm.. kena guilt trip pulak. Patut ke I tarik balik keputusan & accept new challenges at work? 😵💫

Leading people isn’t just about naik pangkat. It’s emotional labour, lots of listening, coaching and handling pressure from both top and bottom. Kalau you sendiri rasa tak ready or tak minat that part, saying no is actually a mature decision. Better dari ambik, then burnt out or unhappy.

Sometimes orang push kita sebab “sayang” opportunity. Tapi dari segi planning, timing and role fit tu lagi penting. Kalau rasa bukan masa yang sesuai or kau tak ready nak lead, tak apa tolak. Boleh je revisit bila kau rasa nak later. Kau tak tutup pintu tapi kau cuma pilih timing yang kau rasa sesuai. Itu pun satu strategi jugak.

Setiap “upgrade” ada lifecycle cost dia and bukan sekadar gaji naik. Jadi manager sama jugak lebih stress load, lebih downtime OR less cuti tenang,and maybe less control over your own time. Kalau dari awal you tahu specs diri you tak align dengan role tu then tolak awal lagi bagus dari nanti kena troubleshoot burnout 😅

Now let say your gaji 5k, memang cukup makan untuk hidup seorang. Problem will come when your family commitments gradually increased higher over the years. Wife, anak, sekolah, medical, etcs etcs. Gaji akan bar at a certain point of level say max for you 6k. Senior manager will be paid 12k, GM above 15k. So if you don’t go up the ladder, how to survive friend?
