I’m thinking of becoming a safety officer and wondering what kind of certifications I would need to pursue. Are there specific safety or health-related courses that companies usually look for? I’ve heard about the DOSH certification, but are there any other qualifications that would help boost my chances? Any safety officers here who can share what certs helped them land a job? Would love some advice!

For safety officer roles, the Cert IV in Work Health and Safety is super common and will definitely help. Some places might also look for First Aid/CPR or a White Card if you’re thinking about construction. And if you want to go further, something like Lead Auditor or Risk Management could help boost your chances. Honestly, the more hands-on experience you can get, the better!

Cool choice! The Cert IV in Work Health and Safety is probably the most common one you’ll need. If you're looking at construction, definitely grab a White Card. Some companies also like to see First Aid or CPR certs, and if you want to level up later, stuff like Lead Auditor or Risk Management could give you an edge. Best way to stand out is getting some practical experience too if you can

Cert IV in Work Health and Safety is usually the go-to for safety officers. If you're in construction, don't forget the White Card. A lot of places also value First Aid/CPR or even Risk Management certs. And yeah, getting a bit of practical experience can help a lot too, whether it’s an internship or part-time role.
