I’ve just started in the data analytics field in MY, having previously working overseas, and I’m curious about what kind of salary I can expect. For those of you working as data analysts, what’s the salary range like for mid-level positions with few years of experience? I know it can vary by company and experience, but I’m looking for some general insights to set realistic expectations for myself. Would love to hear from those who have been in the field for a while!

Welcome to the data world! For a mid-level data analyst with a couple of years under your belt in Malaysia, you’re probably looking at around RM 5K to RM 9K per month. Bigger companies or those in tech and finance tend to pay on the higher side. Of course, it also depends on the tools and skills you bring to the table. If you’re comfortable with stuff like SQL, Python, or Power BI, that’ll bump up your value. Hope that helps.

For someone with a few years of experience, salaries for mid-level data analysts are usually between RM 6K and RM 12K a month. If you're in KL or working with tech companies, you could see it on the higher end. The pay’s definitely better if you’ve got advanced skills, so if you’re already good with things like SQL, R, or Tableau, that’s a bonus. Best thing is to look at the full package, not just the salary, but also benefits and career growth.
