I recently got an offer for a Junior Data Analyst position with a starting salary of RM3,500/month. While the opportunity is great for gaining experience, I’m unsure if this salary will be enough to cover my living expenses in KL. With rent, daily costs, and transport, I’m feeling a bit unsure. Is RM3,500 a reasonable salary for an entry-level data analyst, or should I negotiate more? Would love to hear your thoughts on this and what others are earning in similar roles.

It’s a good opportunity for gaining experience, but RM3,500 might be a bit tight depending on your lifestyle in KL. Rent and transport costs can add up quickly. I’d say it’s worth trying to negotiate, especially if you have any additional skills or certifications. Junior roles for data analysts usually start a bit higher, so it’s definitely something to consider.

congrats on the offer! RM3,500 is definitely on the lower end for KL, especially when you factor in rent and daily expenses. It might be a good idea to negotiate, especially if you feel you have the skills and experience to justify it. A lot of junior roles start around RM4,000 to RM4,500, so maybe you can ask for a bit more. It’s always worth discussing, and the worst they can say is no!
