Lately, I’ve been noticing how more companies are shifting towards a 4-day workweek, even in Asia. Some claim it boosts productivity, reduces burnout, and improves work-life balance. But in Malaysia & Singapore, it still feels like a distant dream. Most places still hold on to the "longer hours = more work done" mindset. Curious—has anyone here worked in a company that experimented with a shorter workweek? Did it actually improve efficiency, or just lead to more stress?

I’ve worked at a company in Malaysia that tested a 4-day workweek for a while. Honestly, it was a bit of a mixed bag. While it did improve work-life balance and morale, some people ended up feeling pressured to get the same amount of work done in less time, which led to more stress in the long run. I think it works well in creative industries but might be tough in more traditional sectors where long hours are still the norm

I’ve heard of some companies in Singapore experimenting with the 4-day workweek, but from what I’ve seen, it really depends on the industry. In my previous job, we tried it for a short period, and it did help with burnout and work-life balance. Productivity stayed the same, if not better, because everyone was more focused during work hours. But it’s not a one-size-fits-all thing, some companies might struggle to adjust, especially if they’re used to longer hours being the norm.
