Got fired on my 1st day of job. Is this legal or can I fight for at least 1 month salary? Hello! I'm a fresh grad and just got hired last week. Unfortunately, due to some misunderstanding, my boss terminated me after working hour at 8PM. He sent a text saying that I'm not required to come to office tomorrow because I'm not the right person & they wish to proceed with another candidate. I tried to contact HR but to no avail. So I'm a bit confused. Am I being bullied or they can actually do this?

Hi! Sorry this happened to you. If you signed an offer letter or contract, check if there's a probation clause and notice period. Even on probation, employers must follow fair dismissal procedures. Firing on Day 1 via text is SO unprofessional. Try reaching HR again in writing. Also, if things don't go you way at all, try la contact pejabat buruh and ask for their opinion. Hope you hv better luck next time!

Situasi macam ni memang tak best especially sebagai fresh grad. Company boleh terminate during probation tapi kena ada prosedur. Kalau diorang hantar message lepas waktu kerja and terus tak bagi chance explain then memang suspicious. Better simpan semua bukti communication. Try juga contact pejabat buruh untuk nasihat. Keep strong, your skills are valuable!

Getting fired on your first day must be really stressful. I’ve worked in retail before and sometimes companies can be strict during probation. But they should at least give some kind of notice or explanation not just cut you off like that. Try to stay calm and keep following up with HR. Don’t give up!

I’m sorry to hear about your situation. As an accounts officer, I know how important it is to understand the terms in your contract. Usually during probation, companies can terminate employment but proper notice or procedure should be followed. I recommend reviewing your contract carefully and continuing to reach out to HR for clarification.

I’m really sorry this happened to you — especially on your first day. That’s a horrible experience, and yes, it does feel unfair. If you signed the offer letter, That counts as a contract, even if you’ve only worked 1 day. Termination must follow what’s stated in that offer (e.g. notice period, probation terms). Even during probation, your employer can’t just fire you via WhatsApp without valid reason and without notice (or pay in lieu of notice).
