Job-Seeking Arts Graduate
Hi! I ada degree in history & nak tanya seniors dkt sini yang ada degree in art stream...memang normal ke susah nak dpt kerja? I'm currently working at a cafe to support myself but I dah setahun grad & macam2 kerja I apply tapi 1 pun tak sangkut, both kerja swasta & gov. My resume is top-notch, I'm fluent in both BM & ENG and my pointer is above 3.5... Sometimes I wonder sampai bila nak kerja dlm bidang F&B? Takde masa depan & kenaikan gaji pun slow sgt. What should I do to get a real job? ☹️

From an HR point of view, I can tell you it’s not about your degree alone, it’s how you market yourself. A lot of arts graduates succeed when they show versatility. Consider taking short online courses in HR, admin or digital tools like Excel, Canva or even basic accounting software. These small additions help your resume stand out in the sea of applicants. And don’t feel bad about working in F&B, it shows work ethic. Just use it as a stepping stone not an end.

Entry-Level Corporate Staff
Actually, I think YES. memang normal susah sikit utk org2 yg grad bidang art ni utk dapat kerja. Tapi it's not impossible! Ramai je kwn2 i yg keje dgn gaji besar2 sekarang altho they're from art stream. just keep trying. Apply je kerja admin, HR, content or any entry level office job dulu. Kalau boleh, ambil kursus pendek untuk upgrade skill. F&B ni mcm Grab la..okay for short-term. long-term memang kena cari kerja lain jugak

Yes, it is tough especially bila bidang seni ni selalu dipandang sebelah mata. Tapi ramai je yang dari background art or sejarah yang pivot to design, admin, even marketing. I started as a junior designer lepas I buat a few free projects to build my portfolio. Maybe you can try something similar buat small projects, sertai online classes (many are free!) and keep your profile updated. Slowly but surely, you’ll get there.

Sr. Creative Designer cum Digital Marketing Executive
Ok sometimes in real work, boss ni dia tak nk tgk pn GGPA, dia just nk tau you boleh deliver tak within certain period, tight datelines, & how to solve the problems in critical times. I pernah tunjuk GGPA i 3.64 lansung dia ckp just a paper, not important for Him.
Bayangkan, diploma in architecture 8 thn, i quit masuk film production, then i jump to event & entertainment.
I buat design at the same time in house photographer.
Company ni dia nk you ada X value. Mcm photography i belajar sendiri,

No offence but getting a History degree is not a wise choice and tbh not being able to find a job is not a surprise for a History graduate. U could try to work as a History Professor in a university or maybe work as a History teacher in a school

Try hitch a part-time job at National Museum or any other history-related establishments. Then slowly wait for a big opportunity to arrive. Maybe one day they are willing to accept you as permanent staff after you stay with them for quite a while.
