I’ve been working in Johor for a while now, in the same field as I would be in Singapore, but I just can’t seem to get the same salary. It’s honestly frustrating because I know the cost of living in SG is higher, but why is there such a huge gap when the job itself is the same? What do you think is causing this? Is it the market difference, or are companies just not willing to pay more in Johor?

It’s annoying when the job’s the same but the pay isn’t. I think a lot of it comes down to the market differences. In Singapore, companies are used to paying more because of the higher cost of living, and Johor’s just not in the same price bracket. Doesn't make it feel any less unfair, though!

it’s tough when you’re doing the same work but the pay gap’s so big. I’d say it’s mostly the market difference. Singapore companies generally have bigger budgets for salaries, while Johor’s cost of living is lower, so they can pay less. Still, it doesn’t make it any easier to swallow.

It’s such a weird gap. I think it’s a mix of market differences and just the way things are priced out in each place. Singapore’s salaries are higher across the board because of the cost of living, while Johor's just isn’t at the same level. Still, it’s frustrating when the job feels like it should be the same pay.
