After months of trying, I finally got an offer but it's RM500 lower than my expected salary. At first I asked why and as expected, HR gave a few excuses. I got a week to decide. But after 3 days, I emailed them back with explanations why I deserve the right amount. I included my previous contributions, market salary data, and highlighted how my skills matched their needs. Eventually, they gave in 🤗 So guys, pls fight for your worth. Have you ever regretted not negotiating your salary before?

I was just in a similar situation where I tried to negotiate an extra 500 which was within the advertised range. They gave me til Monday to confirm after reaching out to me on Friday evening but the HR staff was on leave that Monday. I texted HR to say that we were still mid nego so I couldnt give my confirmation til I heard back from them. This morning (tues) they said they couldn't fulfil my request and withdrew their offer. Just a bit blindsided that they just cancelled the offer outright

This sounds easy for someone with a few years of working experience! How many years of work experience do you have? Which industry are you in? Interested to know.

Good advice. There's another justification that worth to us, which that you received a better offer elsewhere, but you still insist to accept this job if they able to match/exceed your other offer.

Yes. They sent me a chat regarding how much they can pay me, i straight away replied to them i want 500 more and i give long explanation why I’m worth what i requested. Then they straight away agreed. So never be afraid to ask for what you think you’re worth for. Sometimes they just want to see if they can shake your stance.

yes you're good but you also have them an excuse for exploiting you like "hey, I pay you extra and this is the kind of reaction you give me" vibe. Careful there, friend.

May I ask whether life commitments can be used in the negotiation? Or it is the worst point ever?

It's something I've encountered before as a site supervisor and engineer, and ultimately lost my job. As of now, I am working as a Project Manager for another company.
