I just got promoted jadi manager untuk 1st time, and I tengah struggle nak adapt. My team sekarang kecil, cuma 4 orang, and honestly, I rasa macam I kena handle semua benda sendiri sebab takde assistant. Semua kerja admin, planning, & execution I yang kena settlekan. So I wonder, kalau team besar, adakah lagi senang sebab ada assistant tolong like 2-3 AMs, atau sebenarnya lagi serabut sebab kena handle ramai orang? Korang yang pernah manage both small and big teams, boleh share your experience?

Congrats on the promotion! As someone who’s managed both small and large teams, I’d say a bigger team does have its perks, but it also comes with more challenges. You get more help, but you also have to juggle different personalities and more complex dynamics. Smaller teams can be more hands-on, but you’re doing a lot more of the heavy lifting yourself. It’s all about finding a balance and learning how to delegate and trust your team.

I totally get you, being a first-time manager is tough. I’ve handled both small and big teams, and honestly, having more people definitely helps with getting stuff done, but it also means more to manage, more personalities, more opinions, more meetings. But, with a bigger team, you can definitely delegate more, so it’s less of a one-person show. It’s all about finding your rhythm and trusting your team to handle things!

Tahniah Sis. Jangan rasa down ye dengan workload you. My tips to you:- 1. Buat list target for you to achieve 2. Structure apa you kena buat untuk achieve target tu (better discuss among the team to get more ideas) 3. Execute task based on the structure you planed earlier. Well, xsemua kita plan akan berjaya, mesti akan ada kekurangan atau kecacatan, but it's okay. 1st time manager will have this experience. We learn, we move forward and we succeed.

Kenapa kerja admin u still kena buat? Delegate all the tasks that you know your team can do to them. Planning, monitoring & liaising with the higher management is what you should be doing. But since it's a small team, you'd be expected to execute the tasks as well I guess. But definitely not admin works. You are trying to do everything which is why u serabut.

When you have a bigger team, you get more help, which is great, but also more headaches with managing everyone. Small teams are more straightforward, but yeah, it can feel like you’re doing everything. You’ll get the hang of it as time goes on. Just start delegating as much as you can, even small stuff, and slowly build up your team’s responsibilities! You got this!
